Bird Lives – The Charlie Parker Project
In 2022 the American musician John Beasly and the Swedish Big Band leader Magnus Lindgren did arrange new some of the most famous compositions by Charlie Parker (The Bird) for Big Band and String Orchestra. It was one year after Charlie Parker turned to be 100. In the Philharmonie of Berlin they play together with the SWR Big Band and Jazzmusicians like Jakob Manz, Emma Rawicz und Camille Bertault. In 2023, with the studio recording “Bird Lives”, they have won the 56. Grammy in the Jazz-Category.
